Nike x Size? x Sherida

2018
Celebrating the opening of their new store on Electric Lane in Brixton, which previously housed an Afro hair shop, the new sneaker store Size needed a visual bridge to signify its presence. For this, Nike commissioned me to create illustrations to reflect the recent change and pay homage to its previous owners. I produced visual collateral that consisted of two posters to hang in-store, an illustrated shoebox, a graphic mark to be engraved on Nike Air Force 1s and a tote bag, all in my illustrative style.

The Precarious Body

2018
Dutch-Congolese artist and maker Nagare Willemsen asked me to design and edit her final major project and thesis which circled the topic of the black racialised body within the white academic school. The text was to become a reference point by which she could position her political reality and history. To Willemsen, it was important that this book looked as “official” as possible, embedding a ‘cleanness’ in its aesthetic, therefore I designed the publication with as much control as I could from my cultural framework. Using complex GREP programming, I aimed to never have to ‘touch’ the text, leaving all typesetting, image placement, pagination and all other para-textual elements to the programme’s technical correctness.

The Annual Archive

2017
The Annual Archive presents an overview of students' artistic work and documents all projects and activities from the Department of Design at Sandberg Instituut between 2016 and 2017. The design references visual elements found in old cabinet systems, e.g. the consistent divider tabs on the top left corner and different colour papers to signify a new cabinet has been opened. The index, which always opens on the bottom flap, operates as a content page navigating the reader through the different cabinets. The horizontal format also attempts to challenge contemporary western reading culture, prompting the reader to slow down and sift through the archive as though you were searching for a document in an old filing cabinet.

The Sublime Collapse

2016
The Issue is a student-run project initiated by Daniel Seemayer that chronicles the dissertations of final year Sandberg MA Design students. Short texts of the first-year students often accompany the central bodies of texts. The publication comes in an assembly of 6 papers folded into a concertina format and unbound.

Parc Vallès Terrassa

2016
Parc Vallès is a leisure and retail park in Catalonia. Whilst at Air Design, I created the heart-shaped logo, environmental graphics such as banners and billboards, and artworking merchandise applications such as bags, leaflets and keyrings. The aim was to create an identity that firmly placed itself as the heart of Terrassa, offering a dynamic mix of leisure, fashion and entertainment in an attractive and vibrant environment that, importantly, feels safe and comfortable navigating.

The logo exists in two main expressions; outlined and solid colour to give flexibility in application where needed.
